Xreal unveiled its new Aura glasses, spatial computing glasses that run Android XR, giving them support for a wide range of applications out of the gate.
The Xreal Aura glasses feature an Optical See-Through (OST) display that covers a 70° field of view. This virtual display is created by two Sony Micro-OLED displays with 1,920 x 1,200px resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The displays are transparent, so you can see your surroundings clearly and people around you can see your eyes. However, there is also electrochromic dimming for when you want to concentrate on what's "on screen."
If you are a heavy multitasker, you will be able to have up to 5 floating app windows at the same time. Naturally, Gemini is available as a standard part of Android XR, adding multimodal AI capabilities to the glasses.
These glasses have a split design, with the newly announced Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset inside the "compute puck," which runs Android XR and your apps.
Xreal hasn't announced the Aura pricing just yet, but the fine print promises that it will cost less than $1,500 (excluding taxes). You have two reservation options: trying to reserve a limited Founder Pass for a discount, or a regular reservation for $100 to get $200 in credit when the Aura launches.
The Xreal Aura glasses will be out this fall. You can check out the Xreal Aura reservation page for more details.
