New listings in the GSMA IMEI database have confirmed the upcoming vivo X500 series will include three models: the X500, the X500 Pro, and a newly introduced X500e. The series will directly succeed the X300 lineup with vivo skipping the X400 name entirely.
Vivo has reportedly skipped the X400 branding entirely due to tetraphobia — a belief common in several Asian cultures, especially China, where the number four is often considered an unlucky symbol.
Leaks outline three different screen sizes: a 6.37-inch flat LTPO OLED with 1.5K resolution widely believed to be the standard X500, a larger 6.83-inch flat LTPO OLED with 2K resolution expected for the X500 Pro, and a 6.59-inch flat LTPS OLED with 1.5K resolution that is reportedly still under evaluation.
The X500e is the one to watch. Vivo hasn't used this naming before in the X-series, so it's not clear where it fits. It could be a more accessible version like the FE in the X200 or X300 series, or something positioned slightly differently for specific markets.
The series is expected to be powered by the Dimensity 9600 chipset built on TSMC's advanced 2nm process, which would make it one of the first phones to feature this technology. Earlier leaks pointed to the Pro Max variant carrying the more powerful Dimensity 9600 Pro.
A 50MP LOFIC main camera is apparently in testing, as is a 200MP periscope telephoto shooter. LOFIC technology significantly improves dynamic range by preserving details even in extremely bright lighting conditions.
Both the X500 and X500 Pro are tipped to feature batteries exceeding 7,000mAh along with 100W fast charging. This represents a notable jump from the X300 Pro's 6,000mAh cell.
The series is expected to debut officially in China sometime between September and October 2026 with a wider global rollout planned afterward.
