vivo X Fold6 — Details Emerge Before June 26 Launch

vivo is continuing its teaser campaign for the X Fold6 ahead of its launch next week. The latest teasers confirm the foldable's battery capacity, ingress protection ratings, and connectivity features.

Battery — 7,000mAh With Two New Technologies

In a post on Weibo, vivo's product manager Han Boxiao revealed that the vivo X Fold6 will house a large 7,000mAh battery. As per the executive, the battery uses an industry-first fifth-generation silicon anode technology and third-generation semi-solid state battery tech.

Two advanced technologies in a single battery: fifth-generation silicon anode delivers higher energy density than traditional graphite carbon with faster charging and longer lifespan. Semi-solid state technology reduces the electrolyte liquid inside the battery improving safety, durability, and cycle life.

9.8 Hours Heavy Use — 30% Improvement Over X Fold5

vivo claims the X Fold6 can deliver up to 9.8 hours of battery life under heavy usage, which is supposedly a 30% improvement over its predecessor the X Fold5.

30% improvement in heavy use is a significant figure — meaning two and a half extra hours daily under intensive use. For those using foldable phones heavily for work and entertainment this is a tangible improvement.

IPX8 and IPX9 — Dual Water Resistance

The company has also confirmed that the flagship foldable will carry IPX8 and IPX9 water-resistance ratings, along with an upgraded hinge.

IPX8: submersion in water to a specified depth for a specified time. IPX9: resistance to high-pressure high-temperature water jets. Combining both delivers the highest level of water protection. Note: the IPX rating (without the first letter) means water resistance only without a dust protection rating — some users have noted and commented on this.

Connectivity Improvements — New Wi-Fi and Antenna Systems

vivo further says the handset will feature an enhanced communication system with new Wi-Fi and signal amplification antennas.

In foldable phones improving antennas is critical — the fold, hinge, and dual chassis create challenges for wireless signal. vivo points to new engineering solutions addressing this.

Colors and Special Edition

vivo revealed the official color names: Blue Hole, Salt Lake, and Polar Night. A special Black Gold Edition with gold accents will also be available.
