The Galaxy S27 series, expected to debut in early 2027, could include four models, with Samsung said to be adding a new 'Pro' option. According to a report from ETNews, citing industry sources, the Samsung Galaxy S27 lineup will include the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Ultra, and a new Galaxy S27 Pro.
The upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro will reportedly be a high-end model sharing most of its hardware with the Galaxy S27 Ultra, including the Privacy Display feature introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, it will not include support for the S Pen.
The move appears to be aimed at competing directly with Apple's four-model iPhone lineup.
The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to feature the Privacy Display technology that debuted with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and could also feature a 200MP primary camera similar to the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Specific details such as display size have not yet been finalized, but Samsung appears to be aiming to create a smaller flagship device to compete with the standard Pro-sized iPhones.
Samsung wants to offer an Ultra-like experience with the Galaxy S27 Pro, while the S Pen remains a niche accessory with a loyal but limited fan base. This is also why the company wants to add a new model rather than replace the Plus with the Pro.
The S Pen is a beloved legacy feature, but Samsung has been itching to test the waters for a high-end, stylus-free flagship. By introducing a new Pro model without the S Pen, it can do so without abandoning its most dedicated Ultra users.
Reports of a Galaxy S26 Pro also surfaced last year, but Samsung dismissed those claims and ultimately only launched the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. With the Galaxy S27 series still some time away, it remains to be seen whether this latest rumor holds true.
If confirmed, the Galaxy S27 Pro would fill a real gap in Samsung's lineup — a phone with Ultra-level specs in a more compact form factor at a lower price point, without the S Pen. The parallel to Apple's iPhone Pro Max strategy is unmistakable.
