A report from South Korea's EtNews claims Samsung might be forced to skip over 2026 as it works on the Galaxy Ring 2. While nothing is certain, these rumors suggest Samsung's January/February Galaxy Unpacked 2027 could be where we look next for the device's debut.
Several factors have combined to push Samsung to delay the Galaxy Ring 2. An ongoing patent dispute with Oura — filed in November 2025 with Samsung launching a countersuit — makes launching a new generation mid-litigation difficult. Initial Galaxy Ring sales also came in below expectations, leading Samsung to prefer taking time to deliver meaningful improvements rather than an incremental update.
The most immediate upgrade for the Galaxy Ring 2 appears to be battery life. The current Galaxy Ring lasts up to seven days, but the second version may stretch this to around nine or ten days.
Reports also point to a thinner and lighter design, made possible by a revised internal layout. That matters because a smart ring has less room to hide its hardware than a watch does.
Samsung reportedly wants to improve health sensors further, specifically focusing on "improved accuracy of sleep analysis and expanded insights related to cardiovascular health," as well as a stretch goal of non-invasive blood glucose management.
Non-invasive blood glucose tracking was mentioned as a stretch goal but appears unlikely to arrive with Galaxy Ring 2 based on the current state of the technology.
Pricing details are scant, but we'd expect the finger-based wearable to start at roughly the same cost as the current model, $399.
