Samsung's Galaxy Fit3 fitness tracker made its debut in early 2024 — and since then users have been waiting for the next generation. The wait has been long by typical tech standards, but a new report confirms that Samsung is already busy working on the Galaxy Fit4.
Galaxy Fit is Samsung's line of fitness trackers — cheaper and simpler than Galaxy Watch smartwatches and more focused on step tracking, sleep monitoring, and heart rate with a slim lightweight design and multi-day battery life.
This model is expected to launch later this year. However, it will not be presented during the company's next Unpacked event, which is rumored to be taking place on July 22 in London. Instead, the Galaxy Fit4 will allegedly come a few months after that, likely around September.
This timing is interesting as it groups the Galaxy Fit4 with Samsung's major fall launches.
If so, then it will be launching alongside the Galaxy S26 FE and the Galaxy Tab S12 series.
This expected trio paints a clear picture of Samsung's fall event: a mid-flagship phone (S26 FE), refreshed tablets (Tab S12), and a new fitness tracker (Fit4). Three different product categories targeting three different consumer segments in one launch.
An important point the report highlights: it's expected to continue to run a proprietary OS and not Wear OS.
This decision is entirely logical — Wear OS is a more comprehensive and complex system designed for full Galaxy Watch smartwatches. Galaxy Fit with its slim design and long-lasting battery relies on a proprietary system optimized for simple repetitive tasks (step counting, heart rate, sleep tracking) without the overhead of Wear OS. Moving to Wear OS would mean shorter battery life and added complexity — neither of which suits a Fit device.
Galaxy Watch is a full smartwatch line with large circular displays, apps, standalone GPS, and calls — priced significantly higher. Galaxy Fit is a slim band focused on fitness — cheaper, lighter, with two weeks or more of battery life compared to two or three days in Watch. The audience is different: those wanting a lightweight health and sports device choose Fit, while those wanting a full smartwatch choose Watch.
