The Redmi Turbo 5 is now available in India following its launch in China earlier this year. It features a 7,540mAh battery in a compact body and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset.
Aside from one small change, the Indian Redmi Turbo 5 is identical to its Chinese counterpart. The only difference is that the Chinese model packs a slightly larger 7,560mAh battery compared to 7,540mAh in the Indian version.
It sports a 6.59-inch flat AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, 3,500 nits peak brightness, and 1.5K resolution.
3,500 nits peak brightness is excellent for a phone in this price segment — delivering sunlight clarity that most phones at this price don't offer. The flat display and 1.5K resolution complete a premium viewing experience for a mid-to-upper-range phone.
The Dimensity 8500-Ultra SoC is kept cool with the help of a 3D ice-loop cooling system that features a 5,300mm² vapor chamber. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
A 3D Ice-Loop cooling system with a 5,300mm² vapor chamber is notable for a phone in this segment — usually found only in gaming phones. It means Dimensity 8500 Ultra runs at full power without thermal throttling even in extended gaming sessions.
For photography the phone gets a 50MP Sony IMX882 main rear camera along with an 8MP ultrawide unit. A 20MP sensor up front handles selfies and video calling.
Sony IMX882 is a proven quality sensor present in several premium phones — its inclusion at this price point is a valuable addition. A 20MP selfie camera is above average for the mid-range segment.
The Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a 7,540mAh battery in India. It supports 100W wired fast charging and 27W reverse wired charging.
The 27W reverse charging is rare in this segment — meaning the phone can be used as a power bank to charge earbuds, smartwatches, and other phones. 7,540mAh with 100W means a full charge in under 50 minutes.
The handset features a metal frame, an in-display fingerprint scanner, an IP69K rating, RGB ring lights housed inside the camera module, an Infrared sensor, and stereo speakers.
IP69K water resistance is higher than standard IP68 — offering protection from high-pressure high-temperature water jets. RGB inside the camera module adds a distinctive character for night photography and notifications. The Infrared sensor enables using the phone as a remote for TVs and air conditioners.
The handset runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and will receive 4 years of software and 6 years of security updates.
4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates in a $400 phone is one of the best support policies in the Indian market — competing with Samsung Galaxy A-Series on this point.
The Redmi Turbo 5 will be available in India in Asphalt Black, Nitro Blue, and Turbo White shades. Pricing starts at INR 37,999 ($400) for the 8GB/128GB variant, with the 12GB/256GB option at INR 40,999 ($435).
Sales begin on June 19 via the official Mi.com store, Amazon India, and select offline retailers.
