Redmi has officially confirmed the launch of the K90 Ultra in China. Alongside the announcement, the company has revealed the phone's expected price range and opened pre-reservations in the country.
In a post on Weibo Redmi confirmed that the K90 Ultra will debut in China later this month. Separately Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing revealed that the handset will be positioned below the K90 Max in the lineup and will carry a price tag of around CNY 3,000.
CNY 3,000 equates to approximately $415 — an interesting price that delivers Snapdragon 8 Elite (typically used in $600-800 phones) at a significantly lower cost.
The K90 Ultra sits directly below the K90 Max in the hierarchy. For comparison: K90 Max launched in April with Dimensity 9500, 8,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, active cooling fan, and 100W charging.
K90 Ultra will offer roughly the same tier but with Snapdragon 8 Elite instead of Dimensity 9500 — giving K90 Ultra a different character targeting those who prefer the Snapdragon platform.
While Redmi has yet to reveal the official specifications, recent leaks suggest the handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and pack an 8,500mAh battery. The phone is also rumored to feature an active cooling fan.
Three elements clearly define K90 Ultra's identity: Snapdragon 8 Elite means peak 2026 performance, 8,500mAh means exceptional endurance, and an active cooling fan means maintaining this performance for long gaming hours without thermal throttling. This trio was previously exclusive to specialized gaming phones like REDMAGIC and ROG — K90 Ultra delivers it at a much lower price.
Silicon-carbon (Si-C) batteries are next-generation technology — enabling greater capacity in the same size with higher energy density than traditional lithium-ion batteries. K90 Max used the same technology — K90 Ultra will provide the same advantages.
8,500mAh from Si-C means: multi-day endurance for average users, faster charging, and a lighter chassis than a traditional lithium-ion battery at the same capacity.
K90 Ultra specifically targets: serious gamers who want peak Snapdragon performance at a lower price than traditional flagship phones, those needing long-lasting battery life with a cooling fan for extended gaming sessions, and photography enthusiasts wanting a high-performance phone in the $415 range.
Interested users can reserve the phone now in China via the official mi.com site. Pre-reservations typically cost nothing and grant priority in purchase at the official launch.
