Xiaomi introduced a new paintjob in an attempt to refresh one of its mid-rangers and put it back in the spotlight. The hue is called Bold Yellow and it's put on top of the Poco X8 Pro.
Launching new colors for existing phones is a smart strategy from companies to reignite sales without needing an entirely new device launch — which is exactly what Xiaomi is doing here with the Poco X8 Pro months after its original debut.
The company says the new Bold Yellow color is inspired by the racetrack with all the stripes and the black accent color around the frame. We don't get to see an accented frame that often, and it looks nice, at least in those official images.
The back panel has a more industrial vibe to it with the bolts and the semi-transparent-like design. Of course, the Dynamic RGB LED lighting around the cameras is here to stay, although it's not visible in those images.
The combination of bold yellow, black frame, and industrial design makes this one of the most visually distinctive Poco X8 Pro editions — for those who prefer their phone to say something about them without words.
The Bold Yellow paint job adds to the Black, White and Mint Green versions as well as to the Iron Man Edition, which was reviewed a couple of months ago.
The Bold Yellow option is only available in 8GB/256GB, 8GB/512GB and 12GB/512GB memory configurations, skipping the 12GB/256GB option you'd find with the other three standard colors. The launch price is $369, which appears to be slightly more expensive than the $330 launch price in March.
The $39 difference between the standard edition and Bold Yellow — the price of "visual exclusivity" or what could be called a premium on the new distinguished color.
