Oppo to support AirDrop via Quick Share: Direct file transfer with iPhone without apps — March 2026 update

Oppo Joins the AirDrop Party: Direct File Sharing with iPhone, No Third-Party Apps Needed

Google first launched AirDrop support in Quick Share for the Pixel 10 family, then expanded it to more of its own devices. After recently announcing broader Android support across other manufacturers, Oppo has now confirmed it's officially joining.

The Find X9 Series will bring Android Quick Share support, developed in close collaboration with MediaTek and Google, with a software update rollout beginning in March.

What Actually Changes

The Find X9 and Find X9 Pro will receive a software update later this month enabling the Quick Share–AirDrop interconnection. From that point, sharing files with Apple devices becomes as seamless as sharing between Android devices — all through Quick Share.

Without installing any third-party applications, users can conveniently and securely transfer files between Oppo smartphones and iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices.

The End of O+Connect?

Previously, Oppo relied on its own O+Connect app to share files with iPhones — but that solution required a third-party app to be installed on the iPhone side. The Quick Share approach is far more user-friendly.

The Technology Behind It

Quick Share operates on Google's Nearby platform using Bluetooth Low Energy for device discovery and Wi-Fi Direct for fast transfers. AirDrop runs on Apple's proprietary Wireless Direct Link protocol over Wi-Fi with Bluetooth assistance. Google engineered a bridge between the two protocols — without requiring any cooperation from Apple.

A Broader Android Wave

Momentum is building across the Android ecosystem: Nothing has already confirmed plans to integrate Quick Share–AirDrop compatibility into its upcoming products, and Qualcomm is optimizing Snapdragon processors for better cross-platform wireless transfer support.

Quick Share began as a Samsung-exclusive feature in 2020 before becoming Android's native sharing system in 2024, replacing Google's earlier Nearby Share.

Timeline and Supported Devices

The feature launches on Find X9 and Find X9 Pro in March 2026, and will also extend to the Find X9 Ultra upon its release. Other Oppo devices have no confirmed timeline yet.

FAQs

Oppo announced at MWC 2026 support for Quick Share-AirDrop for the Find X9 series — for the first time, files can be shared directly between Oppo phones and iPhones, iPads, and Macs without installing any external application, via an OTA update in March 2026.
