Oppo Reno16 in Europe — Batteries Differ From Chinese Versions

Oppo launched the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro in China last month, and now the devices are on their way to Europe with different specs. A few days ago a leak gave us pricing for the EU, and today the EPREL labels have surfaced, along with the one for the Reno16 F.

The EPREL database (European Product Registry for Energy Labelling) is a reliable official source — EU regulations require companies to register products before market launch, and these listings reveal important specifications like battery capacity, charge cycles, power consumption, and repairability rating.

Battery Surprise — 6,000mAh for the Higher-End, 6,500mAh for the Cheaper One

According to the information in the EPREL database, the European Reno16 and Reno16 Pro both have a 6,000mAh battery, while the lower-end Reno16 F has a 6,500mAh cell.

This unusual situation — the cheaper model having a larger battery than the more expensive ones — is easily explained: Reno16 F targets those who prioritize battery life over performance and camera. Reno16 and Reno16 Pro focus on the 200MP camera, more powerful processors, and faster charging. Different categories offer different trade-offs.

The difference from Chinese versions is also notable — the Chinese Reno16 Pro had a 7,000mAh battery. The European version at 6,000mAh means a 1,000mAh reduction on the way from China to Europe. This typically happens due to differences in customs clearance regulations and European certification requirements that may restrict certain battery types or sizes.

Charge Cycles — F Wins by a Wide Margin

Interestingly, the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro's batteries are only rated for 1,200 charge cycles before they reach 80% of their initial capacity, while the Reno16 F's will go up to 1,800 cycles.

A 600-cycle difference between the premium models and the F is very significant long-term. 1,200 cycles means approximately 3.3 years of daily full charging. 1,800 cycles means approximately 5 years. Reno16 F with its longevity-designed battery suits those keeping their phone 4-5 years.

Shared Features for All Three — Grade A Repairability, IP68, and 5 Years Security

All three devices got an A for repairability, and all three will be IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. Oppo will promise five years of security updates for them, and they will launch with ColorOS 16 based on Android 16.

Grade A for repairability — EU regulations require companies to rate product repairability. Grade A means easy access to internal components and parts availability — extending device lifespan and reducing e-waste.

Five years of security updates is an important feature for European consumers who increasingly demand it — Samsung offers 7 years and Apple offers even longer. Oppo at five years is at an acceptable level.

What This Means for Middle Eastern Consumers

Arab markets typically align closely with European versions in terms of specifications — meaning Arab users interested in Reno16 can expect similar batteries (6,000mAh for standard and Pro, 6,500mAh for F) while maintaining IP68 ratings and 5-year security updates.
