Nothing Phone (4a) In for Review: Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, All-New Glyph Bar, Starting at £349

Nothing officially launched the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro on March 5, 2026 — with meaningful upgrades and a completely new design direction compared to the previous generation.

Design: Glyph Bar Replaces Glyph Interface

Nothing has dropped its signature Glyph Interface entirely, replacing it with the all-new Glyph Bar — seven squares in a row of 63 mini-LEDs.

The bar serves multiple functions: charging progress indicator, app notifications, and support for Android 16's Live Updates. Available in White, Black, Blue, and Pink — with tinted glass on the blue and pink variants.

Full Specs

A 6.78-inch AMOLED at 1224×2720 resolution with 120Hz refresh rate, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, in 8GB/128GB or 12GB/256GB configurations.

Triple rear cameras: 50MP main, 50MP 3.5x telephoto (70x digital), and 8MP ultrawide. 32MP front camera.

A 5,080mAh battery — the largest ever on a Nothing (a)-series phone — with 50W wired charging and no wireless charging.

IP64 dust/water resistance, Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1, three years of Android updates, and six years of security patches.

Early Impressions

Tom's Guide called it the potential budget phone of 2026, saying it makes the iPhone 17e look expensive in comparison and that Apple should be worried.

Droid-life praised the display and performance — calling it better than Pixel 10a on both counts — but flagged that camera processing is overly aggressive with contrast, color boosting, and sharpening.

TechRadar praised the competitive pricing and performance while noting the camera isn't exceptional and wireless charging is missed at this price point.

Pricing and Availability

Phone (4a) starts at £349/€349, with pre-orders open March 5 and open sales from March 13. In India, the starting price is ₹31,999. The standard Phone (4a) won't be sold in the US — only the Pro version reaches American shelves at $499.
