Apple is expected to launch new MacBook models later in 2026 featuring a touchscreen OLED display and M6-series chips — models initially expected to replace the recently launched M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros. But Bloomberg's Mark Gurman offers a different picture.
Gurman suggests the upcoming MacBook could carry an "Ultra" moniker and sit above the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBooks rather than replacing them. Gurman himself is unsure whether Apple will adopt the Ultra branding or stick with the traditional Pro name, but the new machine is expected to carry a higher price tag regardless.
The new OLED touchscreen MacBooks could see prices rise by as much as 20% compared to current models. With the current M5 Max MacBook Pro starting at $2,499, a 20% premium points to pricing around the $3,000 mark.
Gurman reports Apple is planning to expand its lineup with options across different price points — having just introduced the more affordable MacBook Neo at $599, a similar tiered strategy could extend to its higher-end MacBook offerings as well.
The emerging picture: MacBook Neo at $599 at the base → MacBook Air and Pro in the middle → MacBook Ultra/Pro with OLED, touch, and M6 at the top.
The new OLED touchscreen MacBooks with M6-series chips are reportedly launching in Q4 2026.
