
Android 16 is the sixteenth major release of Android. The stable version was released on June 10, 2025, earlier than usual. As of February 2026, 18.9% of Android devices run Android 16, making it the second-most used Android version.
Android 16 introduces the Material 3 Expressive design language with increased use of animation, colors, and blur effects. It also brings "Live Updates" — a new notification class for tracking ongoing activities like deliveries and rideshares — a desktop mode for tablets, and an expanded Linux Terminal feature.
Additional highlights include Auracast support for audio sharing, improved notification management, advanced windowing options, and the Connected Displays feature via QPR1 which brings a desktop-like experience when connecting the phone to an external monitor.
As of January 2026, all eligible Google Pixel smartphones have received the Android 16 update, from phones as old as the Pixel 6 series all the way up to the Pixel 9 series.
Eligible Pixel phones: Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a — Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a — Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a — Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a — Pixel Fold.
The Pixel 10 series, launched in August 2025, ships with Android 16 pre-installed.
Samsung was the first Android manufacturer after Google to seed Android 16, starting with the Galaxy S25 series in late August 2025 alongside One UI 8, which brought significant changes to the notification panel, recent apps page, and system apps. By the end of 2025, Samsung had rolled out Android 16 to most eligible devices including budget and mid-range smartphones and tablets.
Eligible devices include: Galaxy S25, S24, S23, S22 series — Galaxy Z Fold5, Fold4, Flip5, Flip4 — Galaxy A55, A54, A35, A34 — Galaxy Tab S9 and S8 series.
Xiaomi devices receive Android 16 via HyperOS 3, with eligible models including: Xiaomi 15, 14, and 13 series — Redmi Note 14 and Note 13 — POCO F7, X7, M6 and other models — Xiaomi Pad series.
HyperOS 3 brings updated design and icons, new lock screen customizations, improved Xiaomi Super Island and cross-device features, and deeper AI integration across system apps.
In early November 2025, the full OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 12 series officially received OxygenOS 16, followed by older flagships and Nord smartphones. Oppo released ColorOS 16 globally in November 2025, bringing improved animations, wider customization options, and upgraded AI features. Realme launched Realme UI 7, centered on the "Light Glass Design" and enhanced AI capabilities.
Vivo made a significant shift by bringing OriginOS to global markets, replacing Funtouch OS. Based on Android 16, OriginOS 6 features a completely redesigned notification panel and new features like Origin Island and Office Kit. iQOO also adopted OriginOS 6 in place of Funtouch OS.
Motorola was among the first brands to push Android 16. Devices already receiving the stable update include: Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60 Stylus, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Ultra — Razr 60, Razr 60 Ultra, Razr 50, Razr 50 Ultra — Moto G86 5G, G86 Power 5G, G75 5G, G67 Power 5G.
Nothing launched Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16. All supported devices include Nothing Phone (3), Phone (2), Phone (3a) series, and Phone (2a) series.
