Prolific Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) has made a bold prediction regarding the pricing of three upcoming flagships: the OnePlus 16, iQOO 16, and Redmi K100 Pro Max. The short version: it's not great news.
DCS claims all three devices will launch at CNY 5,000 (~$725) for the 12GB/256GB base configuration. For comparison, the OnePlus 15 and Redmi K90 Pro Max both started at CNY 4,000, while the iQOO 15 launched at CNY 4,100.
This represents a roughly 20% price hike — a very substantial increase by any measure.
2026 is the year Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek release their 2nm flagship processors. The hidden cost is significant: a single 2nm TSMC wafer is expected to exceed $30,000 — nearly double the price of today's mainstream 4nm wafers.
DCS offered no specific explanation, but the logic is clear: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 will cost more than its already expensive predecessor, and the ongoing RAM pricing crisis adds further strain.
If Chinese prices rise, global versions of the OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 are likely to follow — brands rarely absorb such increases on their own.
Applying a similar 25% hike to the UK OnePlus 16 would push the price from £849 (the OnePlus 15's launch price) to around £1,060.
DCS previously suggested that some brands may opt for last-generation 3nm processors in their standard models to control prices — this applies more to non-Pro flagships like the Oppo Find X10 and vivo X500.
All three devices are expected to debut in China in the second half of 2026 — likely around October, consistent with the K90 series launch pattern. None of this is officially confirmed by any of the manufacturers.
