Instagram Web is the website version of Instagram that works directly in any browser — Safari, Chrome, or others — without needing the official app. The official link is instagram.com.
On a computer this is obvious, but on iPhone Instagram Web provides access to some features not found in the official app, and sometimes offers a different experience that's very useful — like copying story links and accessing deeper account settings.
Just three things: a good internet connection, Safari or any other browser on your device, and your account credentials — email or username and password.
Step 1 — Open the Official Site
Open Safari on your device. In the address bar type: instagram.com and tap Go. The official Instagram login page will appear.
Step 2 — Log In to Your Account
You have two options: log in with your username and password, or via a linked Facebook account. Enter your account credentials and tap "Log In." If you have two-step verification a code will be sent to your phone — enter it to continue.
Step 3 — Browse Instagram Web
After logging in the home page will appear with a desktop-like interface rather than the usual app look. You can browse posts, view stories, access your personal profile and its settings.
Copying a Story Link — This is the most requested feature. In the web version you can open any story from any account you follow, then copy the page link directly from Safari's address bar. This allows sharing a specific story link with anyone even if they're not following.
Deeper Account Settings — The web version provides access to more detailed settings in your account compared to the app. Tap the gear icon (⚙️) from your profile page to reach all privacy, security, and account management options more comprehensively.
Page Translation — You can enable full Instagram page translation to Arabic or any other language directly from Safari settings — something that can't be done in the official app.
Publishing Posts and Stories — You can upload photos and videos and publish them as posts or stories from the web version on iPhone. Tap the + icon or the story icon to start posting.
The web version has clear limitations compared to the official app. You can't publish Reels or browse the Reels section in the usual interactive way. You can't open or fully view Story Highlights. You can't start a Live broadcast from the web version. Instagram Guide is also unavailable from the web version.
For quick access to Instagram Web every time without opening Safari and typing the URL: open instagram.com in Safari ← tap the Share icon ← choose "Add to Home Screen" ← tap "Add." You'll find an Instagram icon on your home screen that opens the web version directly.
