Suspecting someone is using your Wi-Fi without permission? Or simply want to know exactly which devices are on your network at any given moment? You can easily identify all devices on your network, see how many there are, and take full control — including finding the IP address of every device connected to your Wi-Fi, tracking who joins and who leaves the network, and checking whether anyone has accessed it without your knowledge.
This guide covers two approaches — the first requires no software at all and works directly through your router's settings page, and the second uses the best free PC applications for those who want deeper control and real-time monitoring.
You'll be able to see the names of all connected devices as well as the MAC Address of each one, whether it's a computer, a mobile phone, or a tablet. You'll also be able to cut internet access to any device with a single click, and monitor your network in real time to see devices as they connect and disconnect.
This method requires no software at all. It works entirely through your router's settings page, where you can easily see all Wi-Fi-connected devices including each device's name, IP address, and MAC address.
How to access your router's settings page:
Simply type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of any browser on your computer or mobile phone, then press Enter. If a warning page appears, ignore it by clicking Advanced at the bottom, then click Proceed to 192.168.1.1.
Enter your username in the Username field — this is usually the word admin. In the second field, enter your router password, which is printed on the back of the router next to the word "Password." Finally, click Log in to be taken to the router's settings page.
Once the router's main page loads, simply click on Check My Network Status.
On the next page, click the More button — all devices currently connected to the router will appear in real time along with each device's name. Click on any device to see its full details, including its IP address and MAC address.
After logging in to the router settings page, the main page will load and from it you can easily see all connected devices and their count. You'll find them listed under WLAN Devices List, along with the IP address and MAC address of every connected device.
This is an older router model still in use by many WE subscribers. To see who is connected, log in to the router settings page and follow these steps: click on Network from the left menu, then click WLAN, then click Associated Devices — all connected devices will appear on the right side of the screen.
If you prefer a dedicated application on your computer that gives you more control, a cleaner interface, and real-time alerts, here are the two best free options:
This program is considered the best tool for identifying devices connected to your network and monitoring your Wi-Fi comprehensively. It shows the IP addresses of all connected devices along with detailed data about each one, including MAC addresses, whether it's a computer, a phone, or a tablet.
How to use it:
Download and install the program like any regular application, then open it and wait around 5 minutes for the initial setup to complete before the main interface appears. Then simply click the Scan Now button in the upper right to run a full scan of your network and detect all connected devices.
After the scan is complete, all devices will be displayed with their names, IP addresses, and MAC addresses. If a new device connects to the router while the program is running, you'll receive an instant notification through the program's alert system — a very useful feature for monitoring who joins and leaves your network.
To remove any device from your network and cut its internet access, simply click the X icon in the Remove column on the right. To see full details about any device, click on it and all its information will appear on the right side of the screen.
This program is completely free, and it allows you to see all devices connected to your router — their names, count, and IP addresses. It also offers additional options for full network control, including cutting internet access to specific devices and setting individual speed limits for both downloads and uploads. A key advantage is that it works on all versions of Windows, from Windows 7 all the way up to Windows 11.
If you want a fast answer without downloading anything, the router settings page is the quickest and simplest option. But if you want continuous monitoring with instant alerts whenever a new device connects, along with the ability to cut access or set speed limits per device, Selfishnet is the better choice.
Knowing which devices are connected to your router is a fundamental step in protecting your network and making sure your internet isn't being used by someone you haven't authorized. Whether you go with the direct approach through your router's settings page or prefer a dedicated app on your computer, the result is the same — full visibility into your network and complete control over who stays on it.
