WE (formerly TE Data), Egypt's largest home internet provider, supplies subscribers with either a Huawei or ZTE VDSL router. Changing the default Wi-Fi password and router admin password is essential for security, as the default credentials are printed on the back of every router and can be accessed by anyone connected to your network.
Open any browser on your phone or computer while connected to your WE Wi-Fi, type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, and press Enter. If a security warning appears, click Advanced then Proceed to 192.168.1.1. Enter the username and password found on the back of the router — typically both are "admin."
After logging in, click Local Network in the top menu bar, then click WLAN in the left sidebar, scroll down and click WLAN SSID Configuration. Enter your new password in the WPA Passphrase field. You can also change the network name in SSID Name and hide the network by setting SSID Hide to On. Click Apply to save.
Note: If you are connected via Wi-Fi and change the network name or password, your connection will drop. Search for the new network name and enter the new password to reconnect.
After logging in, click Network in the left sidebar, then WLAN, then Security. Enter the new password in the WPA Passphrase field and click Submit to save.
Log in to 192.168.1.1, click Maintain in the top menu, then Account Management, then Edit. Enter the current password from the back of the router in Old Password, enter your new password in New Password, confirm it in Confirm Password, and click Apply. Note that some router models do not allow changing the username.
