HMD confirmed the launch date for the Vibe 2 5G in India and revealed some of its key specifications. The device arrives as the successor to the HMD Vibe, which was unveiled in India in September last year. The HMD Vibe 2 5G is set to launch on May 21 and will be available for purchase via Flipkart as well as offline retail stores.
The rear panel bears a resemblance to Apple's iPhone 17 Pro series, featuring a raised rectangular camera island that houses two sensors along with an LED flash. Available colors: Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue, and Peach Pink.
Display: 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Processor: Unisoc T8200 — a 5G-capable chipset — with up to 6GB of RAM.
Battery and Charging: 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, officially confirmed by HMD.
Camera: 50MP primary rear camera officially confirmed. 8MP front-facing camera.
Durability and Features: IP64 dust and water resistance. Side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-SIM support, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
The base 4GB/64GB variant starts at ₹8,999 (~$95). The 4GB/128GB model is priced at ₹9,999 (~$105), while the 6GB/128GB option costs ₹10,999 (~$115).
With this pricing, the Vibe 2 5G will take on rivals such as the AI+ Nova 2 and the Tecno Spark Go 3 in the segment. In terms of performance, it is expected to be on par with the AI+ Nova 2 as both devices reportedly feature the same chipset and battery capacity. However, HMD's focus on delivering a clean, near-stock Android experience could give the Vibe 2 5G an advantage over the competition.
The Vibe 2 4G is also expected, featuring a Unisoc T606 chipset, 5,000mAh battery, 10W charging, and a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The Vibe 2 series is also expected to make its way to Europe following the India launch.
