vivo X300 Ultra Professional Accessories Hands-On: 400mm ZEISS Teleconverter, New 200mm Lens, and SmallRig Video Cage

vivo is launching the X300 Ultra with a complete professional accessory ecosystem built in partnership with ZEISS and SmallRig, comprising two kits: the Professional Photographer Kit and the Pro Video Rig Kit.

Professional Photographer Kit

The 400mm Teleconverter — The Zoomiest Smartphone Accessory Yet

The X300 Ultra introduces a 400mm equivalent teleconverter lens in collaboration with ZEISS — the longest focal reach of any smartphone photography accessory to date.

For context, the X200 Ultra came with a 200mm equivalent teleconverter that attaches over its native 85mm lens. The X300 Pro received an updated version using the same mount — meaning those lenses are interchangeable between the two phones.

Surprisingly Compact

The 400mm lens is only slightly longer than the old 200mm but significantly wider — not twice the size as one might expect. The new 200mm is much smaller than its predecessor and balances better on the phone.

The 400mm setup makes the rig noticeably front-heavy — a known challenge in telephoto photography and why professional telephoto lenses have dedicated tripod collars. How the photography kit case handles that weight load remains to be tested.

Upgraded Camera Grip

The new grip adds an extra function button and a flash button on top of the existing video record button, scroll wheel, zoom lever, and shutter button from the X300 Pro version.

Pro Video Rig Kit — Built with SmallRig

A cage that places the phone at center, equipped with two side handles each featuring a Bluetooth-controllable shutter button and zoom lever for stable two-handed filming.

The cage is expandable via multiple cold shoe mounts and quick-release ports — supporting an adjustable LED light on top, an active cooling fan positioned directly over the phone, and additional accessories such as external SSDs, microphones, and monitors.

Video Capabilities of the X300 Ultra Itself

The X300 Ultra supports native 10-bit Log across all three cameras — a professional-grade feature rare even in dedicated cameras at this price range.

vivo brands its video output "4K Master Color Video" — optimized for smooth tonal roll-off and film-like texture, avoiding the over-sharpened, digital-looking processing common in smartphone video.

The pro video app can focus directionally on subject audio. External microphone connectivity has not yet been confirmed.

The Main Camera Sensor

The 35mm main camera on the X300 Ultra uses a 1/1.12-inch 200MP sensor — a significant step up from the 1/1.28-inch 50MP shooter on the X200 Ultra.

FAQs

At MWC, vivo unveiled professional accessories for the X300 Ultra: the ZEISS 400mm teleconverter lens, the longest-range lens ever in a smartphone, a built-in 200mm lens, and a SmallRig video cage with a cooling fan and expansion ports. The phone supports 10-bit Log across its three cameras and 4K Master Color video recording.
