Limited editions are all the rage in many different fields, and Google apparently wants to play this game too — preparing a Pixel phone that will only be sold in Japan.
The Pixel 10a launched about a month ago in most of the world but was absent in Japan despite prior success for the Pixel in that region. That's finally changing — the Pixel 10a is now available for pre-order in Japan and gets a special "Isai Blue" color: a very deep, almost navy blue that makes for a rare fifth entry in the device's color palette.
Google picked this new blue color in collaboration with HERALBONY, a creative company that works with artists with disabilities to create new culture.
The device comes in a special retail box and includes a color-matched bumper case and exclusive stickers designed by artist Nozomi Fujita.
Nine exclusive wallpapers are included by HERALBONY artists Midori Kudo and Kaoru Iga. When you choose a wallpaper, app icons automatically change their colors to match the artwork. This is the first time a Pixel color has a Japanese name — "Isai" means individuality.
The Pixel 10a Isai Blue is currently available for pre-order in Japan, priced at JPY 94,900 ($590) for the sole 256GB variant. It will go on sale starting May 20, while the rest of the color shades will be available from April 14.
The Pixel 10a comes with a 6.3-inch OLED display, the Tensor G4 chipset, a dual rear camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, and a 5,100mAh battery.
The Pixel 10a Isai Blue is far more than a new color — it's a comprehensive artistic collaboration extending from the box to the hardware to the software interface. Celebrating the Pixel's 10th anniversary while supporting artists with disabilities makes this edition truly special, even if it remains a Japan exclusive.
