Today, Oppo has started teasing the upcoming global Reno16 phones through its official account on X. The company has partnered with K-pop girl group BABYMONSTER for the occasion.
Oppo's partnership with BABYMONSTER is a calculated marketing strategy — K-pop groups have massive fan bases across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, exactly the markets the global Reno16 version targets. The "Set the trend with BABYMONSTER" message reinforces Reno16's image as a lifestyle phone for young people.
With the teaser image Oppo confirmed the presence of a 50MP Ultra Wide Selfie Camera as well as the AI Remix Collage feature, and revealed the phones will be running ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, upon launch.
A 50MP wide-angle selfie camera is rare in the mid-range market. Reno-Series has always focused on selfies as a key selling point — a 50MP ultra-wide means group photos with friends at professional quality. AI Remix Collage points to AI-powered photo editing capabilities that automatically create creative collages.
The global Reno16 devices will be different compared to the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro that debuted in China last month. A recent certification in the EU has uncovered the European models' battery capacities, dust and water resistance, and software update promise, while a retailer listing from last week shed light on European pricing.
The Chinese Reno16 Pro came with a 7,000mAh battery — the European/global version will have 6,000mAh. This is an important difference for consumers in our region to consider when purchasing.
Based on what's been revealed: Reno16 and Reno16 Pro with 6,000mAh battery and Reno16 F with 6,500mAh, IP68 water resistance for all three, ColorOS 16 on Android 16, and 5 years of security updates. A 200MP main camera in the Chinese version may differ in the global version.
The official global launch hasn't been specified yet — the official teaser starting today signals a launch within weeks.
