Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Wide and Z Flip8 Dummy Units Surface

Well-known leaker Sonny Dickson has shared images of dummy units of the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide on X. This is the first real three-dimensional look at all three upcoming Samsung foldables. These dummy units aren't functional devices but reveal accurate overall designs and dimensions.

Galaxy Z Fold8 — Subtle Refinements on a Proven Design

The Galaxy Z Fold8 appears largely unchanged from the current Galaxy Z Fold7 and aligns with earlier leaked renders. From the rear, the Fold8 retains a vertical camera module housing three cameras. The Z Fold8 is rumored to be slightly thicker than its predecessor and could feature a smaller punch-hole cutout on the cover display.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide — An Entirely New Form Factor

The Z Fold8 Wide appears shorter and slightly wider than the standard Z Fold8. A recent leak claimed the device measures 123.9 × 164.4 × 4.3mm when unfolded and 123.9 × 82.2 × 9.8mm when folded, with a 4.7:3 outer display ratio and a 4:3 inner display ratio. The Wide features a vertical camera bar housing two rear cameras rather than three, with the LED flash integrated within the camera bar itself. The dummy units show the Z Fold8 Wide lining up closely with the expected size of Apple's iPhone Fold, revealing Samsung is directly targeting the same form factor space.

Galaxy Z Flip8 — Design Consistency

The Z Flip8 appears in line with previous leaks and shows no major design changes. From the rear it retains the horizontal camera island housing two cameras.

Qi2 Magnetic Charging — A Possible Surprise

The images show a circular cutout at the back of the devices that looks similar to the magnetic rings on iPhones and certain Pixel 10 cases, suggesting the new foldables may come with Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. Galaxy S25 and S26 phones offered Qi2 charging technology but lacked the magnetic rings. Since Galaxy foldables no longer support the S Pen, there's less reason not to include Qi2 magnets going forward.

Launch Date and Software

A July 2026 launch window alongside Android 17 and One UI 9.0 is expected for all three devices together.

Z Fold8 Wide — The Anti-iPhone Fold Strategy

If the Z Fold8 Wide's 4:3 inner display delivers on its promise, it may position the standard Fold as the imaging option and the Wide as the usability option — representing a real product segmentation within the Fold line.
