November 2025 — The Beginning: Google surprised Android users by enabling Quick Share to work with AirDrop on iPhone, iPad, and Mac — exclusively for Pixel 10.
Early 2026 — First Expansion: The expansion reached Pixel 9, Pixel 10a, and Galaxy S26 devices in early 2026.
May 12, 2026 — The Big Announcement: Google confirmed that support will expand to several partners including Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor.
The Samsung Galaxy S26, Google Pixel 10, Pixel 9, and Pixel 8a, OPPO Find X9 and Find N6, and Vivo X300 Ultra already support the feature.
Samsung: Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z TriFold.
Pixel: The Pixel 9a is excluded. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are notably absent despite the Pixel 8a being supported.
OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor: Complete specific device lists not yet fully revealed — details coming soon.
Google reportedly uses Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL) technology, which requires a "chiplet-level networking tweak." Android devices will need a flagship chip to support the feature, so entry-level and mid-range Android phones are not expected to get it.
If you don't have a compatible device, you can use Quick Share on any Android phone to generate a QR code, which will let you instantly share with iOS devices via the cloud. This feature starts rolling out to all Android phones today and will be fully available within the next month.
To send files from Android to iPhone: ask the Apple user to open AirDrop settings and switch to "Everyone for 10 minutes." On your Android device, open the content and tap Quick Share and select the Apple device. Wait for the recipient to accept.
